Hitting the Slopes
March 7, 2023
Early in the morning I rise
and out in the snow
my family goes
like a blaze down the mountain.
Overnight snow piled
resting heavily on pines
Now the sun rises
Setting the landscape aglow
Sounds are sparse, bliss
Redolent of a time before humanity
Ancient sky, today’s sky,
Indiscernible
Like a magpie glides through elder trees
Time stands still for all but me
I am alone, Alone with everyone
The mountain is mine, the mountain is ours
