There was an old cabin
deep in my mind,
I go there to dream
when I rest at night,
It opens its door
and invites me inside,
where I lay my head
and compile my life,
There my secrets
are hidden away,
Not to be touched
by those in my day,
Here in my cabin
are only the stars,
That shine with the light
That always seems so far,
Inside the cabin
That’s hidden by trees,
windows all open
To let in a breeze,
The air is so clean
When I enter my head,
I can finally breathe
Not burdened by dread,
So many closed-doors
I have not explored,
Each one hides
A different array,
Of people and places
That bring my dismay,
When I close my eyes
I throw out the key,
Leaving me peace
And tranquility,
There was an old cabin
deep in my mind,
I go there to dream
when I rest at night,
So here is why
I venture inside,
When a dusty old cabin
Feeling just right
Gave me locked doors
That keep out the night.
