Letter from the Editor-In-Chief

As the school year of 2020 finally comes to a close, I would like to give a thank you to everyone who has contributed to the creation of this year’s Vision Literary Magazine.

The odds were already against us with the limited time we had during club meetings, but I doubt that anyone could have foreseen the circumstances we are in right now. Yet here I write on this beautiful Visions website, crafted and curated by the wonderful staff of the Creative Writing Club. I am sure that this effort will benefit the club and the greater Mendham High School writing scene for years after I graduate.

First I would like to thank Mrs. Feury, whose boundless enthusiasm and support of this club helped us grow as writers, club members, and friends. Visions would not be the same without you.

Next I would like to thank my fellow club leaders; Emma Mangino, Amanda Cantale, and Faith Hanson. I certainly could not have run this club or sort through all our submissions without all of you. Your commitment and teamwork has made this process an absolute pleasure, and I cannot wait to see how you will improve the Visions Magazine in years to come!

I would also like to thank all of the members of the Creative Writing Club. Seeing you all grow as writers and friends has been an absolute treat. Your time and effort has been an incomparable force in the creation of this magazine, and I hope to see you all again next year (metaphorically because I won’t be here next year 🙁 ).

Of course, this website would not be what it has become without the countless Mendham high school writers, artists, and creators who submitted their work. I greatly appreciate your drive to share your work and help our magazine be the best that it can be. Please keep up the great work!

And lastly, I would like to thank all of the supportive English teachers, parents, and friends who encourage all of us to create, even when we can’t see the value in our own work. Creativity is an incredibly underestimated skill, one that much of school life does not try to foster. Without your support, I wonder if the magazine would exist at all.

Also gonna give a little thank you to myself, because boy howdy I’ve worked hard on this magazine and I deserve a little recognition for it! Thanks me! Boo-yah!

Sincerely,

Emma Norton, Editor-In-Chief of Visions Magazine and 2020 graduate of Mendham High School
