The Zoo

Amanda Cantale, Poetry Editor

Take a look around,

At those lions, tigers, and bears.

Trapped in their homes

With nowhere to go.

Lost.

Afraid.

Hopeless.

No more visitors

Or friends to

Feed them food.

Paws are stuck in gloves

Snouts tucked in masks

Hibernation has ended,

Spring has come,

Now why can’t we run?

Run away to the water,

To the fields of green,

Back to our Home

The animals are not for display,

No visitors can come and play.

The zoo is closed today.

Doomsday.

But, don’t you fret,

This is not over yet.

Another day comes,

Like the rising sun.

So take a deep breath,

The world is not over yet.
